Rhythmic Revelations: Exploring Femme-directed Music Videos, is a Women’s Month event curated by Behind Her Lens Visuals, that seeks to celebrate the incredible women that are the backbone of local music video representations right now. Although music videos have been largely criticised for exploitative depictions of women globally and throughout their history, long before contemporary representations, women have played a pivotal role in forming counter-narratives around representation in music, in order to challenge and disrupt the male-dominated genres that they were producing music and directing from. This event seeks to highlight and celebrate the journeys of femme music video directors through a panel discussion, an immersive audio-visual experience, and a soundscape through DJ sets.
