01

Trybe’s Tuesday Opportunities

If you haven’t applied to at least one of Trybe’s Tuesday Opportunities, I’m just going to assume you don’t like being paid for your skills. Every Tuesday, Trybe share paid opportunities for African creatives on IG and Twitter. Yes, EVERY TUESDAY!

02

Don’t Work for Free

I’ve passed that stage where I work for no money. It just doesn’t make sense for me anymore. I have 5+ years of experience, a very good portfolio and CV, and zero time to take on clients that can’t pay.

03

Have a rate card ready to send

Don’t waste time doing back and forth on prices. You’re probably not the only person the client is talking to about work. Send them your rate card with your prices and services clearly listed. It will make it quicker and easier for them to make a decision, and makes you look more professional.!

04

Offer Discounts

If you really, really need the money, offer discounts. Say: “Normally this service is $500 but I’m doing a “first time buyer” offer at $250. Make sure your invoice shows that a discount has been applied.

05

Coach, Mentor, Train

I’ve made so much money teaching people how to do what I do. Online workshops have become so much easier to set up since COVID and you can train and mentor people from all over the world.
