About this opportunity
The Hamburg Ministry for Culture and Media is inviting applications for eight three-month residencies at Westwerk e.V. between 2027 and 2028. The residency supports international artists by providing a live-work space to develop an artistic project while building connections with Hamburg’s cultural scene. Located in central Hamburg, Westwerk is an artist-run centre with studios, galleries, an art bookshop, and a small theatre. Residents will have opportunities for mentorship, networking, and presenting their work through exhibitions, talks, screenings, discussions, or public events.
Rewards

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be professional international solo artists aged 23 or older
- Live outside Germany
- Work in visual arts and/or photography
- Be interested in engaging with Hamburg’s cultural scene and building networks there
- Have some previous international experience
- Film, multimedia, and music projects must have a connection to visual arts.
