About this opportunity
The Yeovil Literary Prize international writing competition opens on 1st January 2024 and closes on 31st May 2024. The competition is recognised by writers and publishers as prestigious in the international literary world. To enter, you click on their Competition tab, where you’ll find the five categories. Click on your chosen category and you’ll see the Rules for you to check before entering. They have different emphasis for each category, and they will guide you before entering.

They actively encourage all forms of writing by offering you five categories to enter. You can enter as many as you wish each having its own entry form. Fees can be combined in one payment to make it easier for you
Rewards
Novel: 1st prize £1250; 2nd prize £500; 3rd prize £125
Short Story: 1st prize £600; 2nd prize £250; 3rd prize £125
Poetry: 1st prize £600; 2nd prize £250; 3rd prize £125
Children’s/Young Adult Novel: 1st prize £600; 2nd prize £250; 3rd prize £125
Writing Without Restrictions: 1st prize £250; 2nd prize £125; 3rd prize £75
Eligibility
- Entries must be the work of the entrant (who must be over 16), in English, (not translated into English) and must NOT have been previously self-published, broadcast, or accepted for publication.
- Entries that have won or are currently shortlisted in other writing competitions DO qualify for entry.
- Copyright remains with the entrant. The entrant’s name must only appear on the entry form and not on the entry itself
- Word count for Novel entries is: In total – Synopsis and opening up to 10,000 words which should include up to 500 word Synopsis. A Synopsis is different to a blurb. Please add wordcount at end
Entry Fee
- Novel: £14.50
- Short Story: £8
- Poetry: £5 per poem.
- Children’s/Young Adult Novel: £12.50
- Writing Without Restrictions: £6
