About this opportunity
The Studio Museum in Harlem Artist-in-Residence program is an eleven-month residency supporting three emerging artists working in any medium. One of the institution’s founding initiatives, the program is designed to provide artists with time, space, and institutional support to develop their practice within the cultural environment of Harlem. Residents receive studio space inside the museum, professional mentorship, and ongoing engagement with curators and staff.
The residency concludes with a public exhibition and publication featuring work created during the program, making it both a development opportunity and a major platform for visibility. The program has supported over 150 artists since its inception and is widely regarded as a significant launchpad for contemporary artists of African and Afro-Latinx descent.
