About this opportunity

Reimagining Ghana is a UK–Ghana arts project by Forty-Four Words in collaboration with Ekow Barnes, exploring contemporary ideas around Ghanaian identity, memory, history and representation. The project is looking for three visual artists to develop new work informed by research, dialogue and public engagement. Selected artists will receive a paid commission and support throughout the development process, with opportunities to connect with peers and collaborators and contribute to public conversations and programming in London and Accra. The project is particularly interested in artists who are curious, research-led and reflective, rather than artists working within a particular aesthetic or medium.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be aged 18 or over
  • Must be of Ghanaian heritage
  • Must be available to participate throughout the project period
  • Open to artists working across visual arts
  • Applicants should demonstrate a strong contemporary practice, curiosity, thoughtful engagement with their ideas, and an interest in questions around identity, memory, history, place or representation
