About this opportunity

Hamaya Artists Residency invites visual artists all over the world to partake in the 4-week Residency at the tranquil coastal Japanese town Hamaya.

 The primary purpose of the residency is to give the artists an opportunity to immerse themselves in various aspects of Japanese culture and to meet artists, curators and gallery owners in Japan. Artists are not required to create new work during the residency. They want you to have ample time to reflect on your career and plan for the future in a calm, nurturing environment.

Rewards

• You will receive a roundtrip flight to Narita International Airport (Narita) or Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), and shared accommodations for 4 weeks.
• Each artist-in-residence will receive a weekly allotment of $200 USD for meals and local transportation. Residents stay in their own private bedroom at Hôtel ami hayama.

Eligibility

• Any visual artist over 21 years old, working in any medium and based anywhere in the world, regardless of race, gender, culture, or religion is eligible to apply.
• Application can be sent in English only.
