About this opportunity

Fujifilm Middle East, in collaboration with Cinema Akil and Gulf Photo Plus, is looking for emerging filmmakers from the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia to submit short films for the 2026 Fujifilm Short Film Festival. Filmmakers can enter work in four categories—Narrative Shorts, Documentary Shorts, Student Shorts, and Experimental Shorts. Selected films will be screened at Cinema Akil in Dubai during the festival on 12–13 December 2026, with award-winning films going on to additional arthouse cinema screenings across the region.

Rewards

Fujifilm X-series camera, XF16–55mm (Mk II) lens, USD $1,000 cash

Best Film:
USD $2000 cash prize

Audience Award:
USD $1000 cash prize

Selected films will be screened at Cinema Akil during the festival, with award-winning works continuing on to arthouse cinema screenings across the region.

Eligibility

Open to films produced in the following countries:

Africa: Algeria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tunisia

Middle East: Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen

Central Asia: Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan
