About this opportunity

Submissions for the documentary film Ford Foundation’s JustFilms production grants are currently open.   supports ideas, individuals, and networks that work to reduce inequality through film, video and emerging media platforms, with a special focus on documentary practices. They support artist-driven, non-fiction film and new media storytelling projects that explore aspects of inequality.

JustFilms accepts inquiries for direct film production grants year-round, averaging between 1,000 to 1,500 inquiries yearly. While we welcome submissions from any region of the world, we have a particular focus on the areas where the foundation has regional offices. We support 25-30 feature documentary film projects through annual grants, at all stages of production. Unfortunately, we do not fund narrative or scripted projects, or projects led by organizations.

Eligibility

• Narratives or scripted projects or projects led by organizations cannot be funded by JustFilms.
• All projects submitted would be judged based on social and cultural impact, artistic excellence, alignment with driving out inequality and creativity and innovation in form.
• This opportunity is opened to all filmmakers worldwide with a special focus on the regional locations of the Ford Foundation,  Middle East and North Africa, Brazil, China, East Africa, West Africa, United States, Andean Region, Indonesia, Mexico and Central America, Southern Africa and India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
