About this opportunity

The Art Explora Foundation, in partnership with the Cité Internationale des Arts, is offering residencies at its Montmartre site in Paris for the 2027 sessions (Session 1: March–August 2027; Session 2: September 2027–February 2028). It’s open to artists and artist collectives, researchers, curators, and writers of all nationalities, with no age restriction, working in visual arts, performance and live arts, digital arts, curatorial practice, or research fields such as humanities, social sciences, cultural studies, technological innovation, or ecology. Up to twenty residents are selected each year, with the committee weighing the quality of the project, its connection to the residency’s themes, and the value of a Paris-based residency to the project’s development.

There are two tracks: a SOLO programme for individual artists/writers (3 or 6 months), and a COLLECTIVE programme for a group of artists, or artists working with researchers/curators (3 months, one application per collective). Applicants must show at least five years of professional activity and an international track record of exhibiting their work or research — this is not an entry-level opportunity.

Rewards

  • SOLO: 3–6 month residency, a fully equipped ~50m² studio-apartment, a monthly living grant of €1,000, a production grant of up to €3,000, and a round-trip to/from the residence
  • COLLECTIVE: 3-month residency, one shared ~50m² studio-apartment, a monthly living grant of €2,000 (shared), a production grant of €3,000 (shared), and round-trip travel for each member (up to €2,000 total)
  • Access to production facilities, local professional networks, and mentoring sessions with a selection committee of leading international art-world figures
