The Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest 2024 is designed to discover, recognize, and foster young photographers aged 18 to 33, offering them a distinguished platform to showcase their work on a global stage. Organized annually by the Rossiya Segodnya media group, this contest is dedicated to the memory of Andrei Stenin, a Russian photojournalist who tragically lost his life while on assignment. 

This contest is unique in its commitment to supporting young photographers who capture compelling, newsworthy stories through their lenses. It emphasizes the importance of photojournalism in documenting social, political, and cultural events, and in shaping public discourse. The contest’s categories, including Top News, Sports, My Planet, and Portrait, encourage participants to explore diverse themes and subjects. These categories reflect the multifaceted nature of photojournalism and its ability to capture the essence of our world’s dynamic and varied landscapes.

Rewards

The contest offers substantial rewards, with the top prize being 700,000 rubles (approximately $7,840). Additionally, there are awards for the first, second, and third places, amounting to 125,000 (approximately $ 1400), 100,000 ($ 1120), and 75,000 ($ 840) rubles respectively. These prizes not only offer financial incentives but also provide a platform for the winners to gain significant recognition in the field of photojournalism.

• The Grand Prize winner will receive RUB 700,000 (about $9000)
• The first place winner in each category for an individual Photo Image or a Series of Photo Images will receive RUB 125,000  (about $1300)
• The second place winner in each category for an individual Photo Image or a Series of Photo Images will receive RUB 100,000  (about $1100)
• The third place winner in each category for an individual Photo Image or a Series of Photo Images will receive RUB 75,000  (about $900)
• Contest Sponsors and/or Partners may also offer additional prizes.

Eligibility

Young photojournalists aged between 18 and 33 are eligible to participate.

Entries can contain a single photograph or series of no more than 12 photographs. 

Photographs must have been taken after January 1, 2023. In exceptional cases, series of photographs started in previous years are accepted. In such case, the last photograph of the series must have been taken in 2023 or 2024.
