Based in Accra, Ghana, Rechel Rodham Oppong is a self-taught artist specialising in portrait painting. Inspired by artists such as Frida Kahlo, her journey began in 2017 and took her to Belgorod, Russia where she studied Art Design (yes she speaks Russian!)She returned to Ghana to continue pursuing her passion, exhibiting her work with @contemporary_emerge and at Gynadu Place in Accra. In 2022, she started a new series called In My Solitude, exploring the positive impact of being alone. With her art, Rechel explores the depths of human expression and emotion. She’s drawn to shapes and lines, seamlessly incorporating them into her paintings to create stunning and emotionally evocative pieces. Her goal? To create artwork that forges a deep emotional connection with the audience.
