Institute Museum of Ghana presents Noldor residency artist Dela Quarshie’s solo exhibition. Dela explores the relationship between opinion, influence and emotional memories. His artistic expedition began at a young age, exploring the craft of body art (face painting), which evolved into a nonverbal expression of ideas and concepts. His work features intricate use of acrylic paint and oil on canvas, the artworks are a combination of enclosed shapes with colours representing gemstones, with rendered apparels.
Inspired by the rich folklore and mythology of African mermaids, Quarshie’s stunning works draw parallels between the depth of our thoughts, symbolized by the vast ocean, and the endless achievable possibilities that lie within if we dare to attain them.
