About this opportunity

The Swahili Futurism Residency is looking for artists and creatives to take part in a two-week residency held within Zanzalu in Fumba Town, Zanzibar (25 July – 8 August 2026). The programme brings together a small group of East African and African practitioners to explore how Swahili culture, history, and imagination can shape future creative narratives. Artists will develop new work through a combination of independent studio practice, shared creative sessions, cultural immersion in Zanzibar, and mentorship from local and international practitioners. The residency is designed to connect artistic experimentation with place, community, and long-term creative collaboration.
