SUMMARY:Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: West Africa – Medium-Sized Festivals Grant
DESCRIPTION:Opportunity type: Grant\nFor: Different Creatives\nDeadline: 20/09/26\nRewards: Up to €50,000\nLocation Eligibility: West Africa\n\nAbout this opportunity\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Goethe-Institut is inviting medium-sized festival organisations across 15 West African countries to apply for grants under “Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: West Africa,” an EU-funded initiative to strengthen cultural cooperation between West Africa and Europe. Forty-two festivals will be selected across six cultural sectors — Cinema/AV & Animation, Heritage, Literature, Music, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts — with seven grants awarded per sector. Each selected festival receives up to €50,000 to fund activities carried out as part of a “cluster”: a group of seven medium-sized festivals in the same sector, led by one major festival, working toward partnerships, co-productions, and mobility exchanges with European festivals. The application window runs from 21 August to 20 September 2026.\nApplicants must submit as part of a cluster arrangement (coordinated with a major festival and other medium-sized festivals in the same sector) rather than as a standalone organisation, and the application requires a substantial set of supporting documents — financial statements, bank statements, a tax compliance certificate, and narrative reports — so it is not a quick submission.\nRewards\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrant of up to €50,000 per selected festival organisation, based on a submitted budget, disbursed in instalments tied to milestone-based reviews\nParticipation in a cluster of festivals for capacity-building, mobility schemes, staff exchanges, and networking with European festivals\nSupport for co-productions, festival tours, and international marketing initiatives\n\nEligibility\n\n\n\nApplicant must be a legal entity (public or private organisation, non-profit, foundation, or collective) registered in one of: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sénégal, Sierra Leone, Togo\nMust be a medium-sized festival operating in one of six sectors: Cinema/AV & Animation, Heritage, Literature, Music, Performing Arts, or Visual Arts\nMust apply as part of a cluster of seven medium-sized festivals plus one major festival within the same sector\nOnly one application per organisation — submitting more than one disqualifies the applicant\nMust select a single cultural sector/theme on the application form\n\nEntry Fee\nFree \n\n\nHow to Apply \nApply using the link: Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: West Africa – Medium-Sized Festivals Grant\nAll questions regarding this opportunity should be sent to eup-wa@goethe.de\n
