SUMMARY:Delfina Foundation – Spring 2026 Residency (Making and Materiality)
DESCRIPTION:Opportunity type:  Residency\nFor: Different artists\nDeadline: 14/09/25\nRewards: Residency + £1k + mentorship + travel \nLocation Eligibility: Worldwide\n\nAbout this opportunity\n\nDelfina Foundation announces an open call for its Spring 2026 residency season (26 March – 19 June 2026), under the new theme Making and Materiality. This programme brings together artists, makers, designers, and those working across disciplines to explore the intersections between craft and contemporary art.\nHistorically, craft and art have often been separated by institutions, markets, and hierarchies. This programme challenges that division, framing making as a form of knowledge in itself, deeply tied to cultural memory, ecological responsibility, and political realities.\nOver three months, 10 to 12 practitioners will share Delfina’s Project Space in London as a site for experimentation, research, and dialogue. The programme encourages collaborative inquiry rather than finished outcomes, supporting process-driven exploration, peer-to-peer exchange, and public engagement.\nThis first edition of the theme is particularly interested in practices that:\n\nEngage with materials carrying cultural, ecological, or political meanings\nCritically reflect on origins, responsibilities, and techniques tied to those materials\nDemonstrate sustained, hands-on engagement with making\nCommit to ethical, collaborative, and/or community-informed practice\n\n\nRewards\n\n\n\n\nFully funded 12-week residency for international participants, including:\n\nA return economy-class flight \nAirport transfers in the UK \n Reimbursement of visa fees (if required) \n Per diems of £35 per day \nA materials budget of £1000 \nA travel pass for London’s public transport network \nA single bedroom with a desk at Delfina Foundation, a house which hosts up to 8 residents with shared facilities, including: bathrooms, laundry rooms, a kitchen, a library and a dining room. \n\n\n£3,000 fee and support for UK participants\nProfessional mentorship and peer exchange\nAccess to Delfina’s networks of artists, curators, academics, researchers, and institutions\nParticipation in workshops, talks, screenings, and public programmes\nOpportunity to be part of an international cohort and long-term alumni network\n\n\n\n\n\nEligibility\n\nBe an artist, maker, designer, or practitioner working across these boundaries\nShow alignment with the Making and Materiality theme\nBe proficient in English (the working language of the programme)\nApply as individuals (collectives may apply but usually only one member can be hosted)\nSubmit a clear proposal for how they will use the residency\nBoth early-stage and ongoing projects are eligible.
