This final edition, inspired by V.Y. Mudimbe’s The Invention of Africa, focuses on how literature and activism can reshape global perceptions of Africa and create new worldmaking narratives.\nResidency length: One month (February–April 2026) at LOATAD in Accra, Ghana.\nRewards\n\n\nUp to $600 USD to cover travel costs to and from Ghana (except for US-based applicants\nOne month room and board at LOATAD in Accra, Ghana.\nA stipend of $500 USD.\nAccess to the library’s extensive resources.\nTrips to relevant places of interest in Ghana.\nMeetings with key players in the Ghanaian/African literary space.\n\nEligibility\n\n\n\nBeginner, Emerging and Established writers from and/or based in Africa, the Caribbean, North America, South America, and Europe whose work engages with issues concerning Africa and/or the Diaspora, specifically, The Black Atlantic.\nWriters of fiction, narrative nonfiction, poetry, playwrights, and academic texts with good publication credits in literary journals / magazines / newspapers, etc.\nWriters can write in any language, but must be able to communicate in English.\nWriters must be aged 21 or over.\nWriters must own a valid passport and be willing to travel to Ghana to participate in the physical residency.\n\nEntry Fee\n\nFree\nHow to Apply \nApply using the link: Black Atlantic Residency III\nAll questions regarding this award should be sent to info@loatad.org\n
