About this opportunity

The Locarno Film Festival is seeking filmmakers, producers, and directors from Africa for its Open Doors program. The initiative supports feature-length film projects, producer career development, and directors with completed films, aiming to strengthen independent cinema and foster collaboration across regions and continents. Participants will gain access to mentorship, industry connections, and professional support.

Rewards

• Open Doors Projects: Grants from CHF 5,000 – CHF 30,000 for feature-length films (70+ minutes)
• Open Doors Producers: In-kind support and scholarships (details announced before the event)
• Open Doors Directors: Awards and recognition (details announced before the event)
• Travel, accommodation, subsistence, and industry accreditation for selected participants at the Locarno Film Festival

Eligibility

• Filmmakers, producers, and directors from eligible African countries
• Projects must meet program requirements (e.g., feature-length for Projects program)
• Open Doors Projects require director + main producer; Open Doors Producers and Directors require the applicant as producer/director
