About this opportunity
The G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize 2026 supports contemporary artists by commissioning a new, site-specific outdoor artwork to become part of the Foundation’s permanent collection in Agios Nikolaos, Crete. Established in 2019, the prize celebrates originality, innovation, and the intersection of art and nature.
Artists are invited to submit proposals for large-scale sculptural or installation works that demonstrate a strong connection to the site and creative sustainability. The selected project will be produced between February and May 2026 and unveiled during a public ceremony in June 2026.
Rewards
- €15,000 cash prize
- Production, construction, transport, and installation costs fully covered
- 10-day research and residency stay at Minos Palace in Crete (with accommodation and meals)
- One return flight to Crete covered
- Collaboration with the Foundation’s Artistic Director and production team
- Media coverage, exhibition promotion, and inclusion in Foundation publications and catalogues
