About this opportunity
The CIMAM Travel Grant supports museum professionals working in modern and contemporary art to attend the 58th CIMAM Annual Conference in Harare, Zimbabwe. The programme aims to increase global representation and knowledge exchange within the museum sector, particularly supporting professionals from emerging and developing economies. Since 2005, the grant—supported by the Getty Foundation and other international funders—has enabled over 400 professionals to participate in global museum dialogue. The 2026 conference focuses on “Museums Beyond Limits: Imagining Repair Across Cultures, Ecologies and Knowledges,” marking the first time the event will be held on the African continent.
Rewards

Eligibility
- Open to museum professionals in modern and contemporary art
- Includes curators, directors, and researchers with relevant museum practice
- Must reside in countries classified under ICOM Groups C, D, or E (emerging and developing economies)
- Priority given to early-career professionals (under 10 years’ experience)
- Applicants must not be involved in commercial art dealing or for-profit gallery activity
- Previous recipients may reapply only after a 3-year gap
- Must demonstrate financial need and relevance of work to museum practice and contemporary art
