About this opportunity

Cassava Republic Press invites Black designers from around the world to enter the Echoes of the Earth: Black Voices Reclaiming Ecology and Justice cover design competition. This open call is part of the publisher’s commitment to amplifying Black creative voices in the global publishing industry. The winning design will be used as the official cover for Echoes of the Earth, a groundbreaking anthology centering African and Afro-Diasporic perspectives on ecology, climate justice, and environmental futures. No previous book design experience is required, and emerging designers are especially encouraged to apply.

Rewards

• Winner: $750 + official cover design credit + contract with Cassava Republic to complete the full cover (front, spine, back)
• Two runners-up: $200 each + consideration for future Cassava Republic cover commissions
• International visibility through publication of the book in all formats and territories

Eligibility

• Open to Black designers worldwide, aged 18+
• No prior book cover design experience required
• Must submit no more than 2 original designs for Echoes of the Earth
• Portfolio of previous work required (any medium)
• Short design statement (max. 250 words) explaining concept
