About this opportunity
The Canon Video Grant, organised by Canon in partnership with Images Evidence and the Visa pour l’Image festival, supports one professional filmmaker or photojournalist to produce a short documentary film on a social, political, economic, or cultural issue.
The selected recipient receives funding and equipment to produce a short film (maximum 8 minutes), which is first presented as a teaser in 2026 and later screened in full at the Visa pour l’Image festival in Perpignan in 2027.
The grant focuses on strong journalistic storytelling, originality, and prior professional experience in documentary or video reporting.
Rewards

Eligibility
- Open to professional videographers, photojournalists, and documentary filmmakers
- Applicants must have completed at least one video reportage (broadcast or non-broadcast)
- Must be able to work in English or French
- Individual applicants only (no groups or teams)
- Must present a journalistic documentary project (social, political, economic, or cultural topic)
- Prior professional experience in video/photojournalism required
