About this opportunity

Art Exchange: Moving Image is seeking early to mid-career visual arts curators from Sub-Saharan Africa who work with or are interested in moving image practices. Supported by the British Council and delivered by Breinstorm Brand Architects and IQOQO, the programme strengthens curatorial practice through mentorship, skills development, international exchange, and the delivery of a final moving image exhibition in the curator’s home country.

The year-long programme connects African curators with UK-based institutions and peers, supporting cross-cultural dialogue, professional growth, and curatorial experimentation. Eligible countries are: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe

Note: This programme is not open to artists.

Rewards

Selected curators will receive:

• Participation in a cohort of 6 curators from across Sub-Saharan Africa
• Personalised mentorship and professional development workshops
• Access to works from the British Council Art Collection
• A fully funded research trip to the UK (May 2026)
• A grant and production support to deliver a moving image exhibition in their home country
• Support to deliver a public programme or workshop alongside the exhibition
• Expanded international networks across Africa and the UK
