About this opportunity
The Quramo Publishing Ltd. invites unpublished African writers to submit their fiction prose manuscripts for the 10th edition of the Quramo Writers’ Prize (QWP). The prize celebrates original African storytelling and aims to help talented writers gain recognition and publishing opportunities. Manuscripts must be full-length novels for adults or young adults, written in English, and must be the original, unpublished work of the entrant. The competition provides feedback, masterclasses, and creative writing workshops to longlisted and shortlisted entrants, while the winner receives a cash prize and a publishing deal.
Rewards
- Winner: Cash prize + publishing deal; Quramo Publishing reserves right of first refusal for the author’s second book
- Shortlist: Manuscript feedback, publishing deal consideration, creative writing workshop, and additional prizes
- Longlist: Creative writing masterclasses and additional prizes
Eligibility
- Open to unpublished Nigerian and African writers (residing anywhere)
- Entrants must be 18 years or older
- Manuscripts must be original, unpublished fiction prose of at least 50,000 words
- Short story collections, plays, poetry, and self-published or electronically published works are not eligible
- Entrants must submit a complete manuscript, one-page synopsis, short biography, and contact details via the official submission form
