About this opportunity
The Re:assemblages Symposium 2025, organised by Guest Artists Space Foundation and Yinka Shonibare Foundation, is calling for proposals that explore African and Afro-diasporic art archives as living, contested, and future-shaping spaces.
Set to take place from 4–5 November 2025 at Alliance Française, Lagos, this two-day symposium will bring together archivists, curators, scholars, artists, and cultural practitioners to critically engage with postcolonial libraries and art archives through creative, theoretical, and experimental contributions.
Participants are invited to respond to one of three themes: Ecotones, Annotations, or The Living Archive, through talks, performances, screenings, workshops, or hybrid formats.
Selected participants will be notified in the first week of September. Selection will be made by our Advisory Committee, with preliminary shortlisting conducted by the Planning Committee.
Rewards
- Opportunity to present at an international symposium during Lagos Art Week & ART X Lagos
- Travel and accommodation grants for five Africa-based participants
- Invitation letters to support funding and visa applications for other selected contributors
