SUMMARY:EMBracing the Ocean artist-in-residence programme 2024
DESCRIPTION:Opportunity type:  Residency\nFor:  different creatives\nDeadline: 18/02/24\nRewards: €10,000\nLocation Eligibility: Worldwide\n\nAbout this opportunity\n\nEMB’s artist-in-residence programme ‘EMBracing the Ocean’ provides grants for creative individuals to inspire wide-reaching societal change for Ocean sustainability by expanding societies’ understanding of the Ocean’s value and the urgency of ensuring its health and resilience now and into the future. The 12-month residency programme is open for applications from any creative discipline worldwide until 21st February 2022.\nFor the 2022 – 2023 programme, EMB will provide grants of 10,000 EURO to two awardees from any creative discipline, including creative communications, visual arts, literary arts, performing arts, and installation art. During a 12-month residency, the awardees will produce and disseminate a new piece of work, or series of work, through a two-way co-design process with Ocean scientists. The work should focus on any Ocean science topic relevant for sustainable development, including but not limited to those covered by the marine science-policy work of the EMB, and/or wider activities within the framework of the Ocean Decade, and should aim to raise societal awareness of the chosen topic and inspire behavioural change for a sustainable future.\nThe residency will run from spring 2022 to spring 2023. More details on the EMBracing the Ocean programme can be found here ( https://www.marineboard.eu/node/787 ), and applications can be submitted via the application form ( https://www.marineboard.eu/embracing-ocean-application-form ).\nRewards\n€10,000\nThe grant will be paid periodically throughout the 12-month residency on completion of planned deliverables. The awardees can use the grant to cover costs according to the needs of their work (e.g. artist fees, materials, expenses, travel, promotional materials, campaigns, transport of work, compensation for scientific collaborators) and these should be outlined in the provisional budget submitted as part of the application. The residency will take place remotely, but may include visits to collaborating researchers and/or participation in events. Any potential or secured co-funding must be clearly highlighted in the application and budget. Any work that is dependent on co-funding must be in addition to the core work produced for the EMBracing the Ocean programme.\n\nEligibility\nThe programme is open to creative individuals/groups from a wide variety of artistic disciplines. Prior experience in co-creation with scientists and/or communities and working on sustainability topics is desirable. Applications are welcome from across the world, and from a wide range of creative disciplines, including but not limited to creative communications, visual arts, literary arts, performing arts, and installation art, traditional and indigenous arts.\nEntry Fee\nNo entry fee\nHow to Apply\nApply using the link: https://bit.ly/42dRouv\nAll questions regarding this award should be sent to: balexander@marineboard.eu\n
