DESCRIPTION:Opportunity type: Competition\nFor: illustrators\nDeadline: 07/04/23 \nRewards: Up to $1500\nLocation Eligibility:  Worldwide\n\nAbout this opportunity\nThe purpose of our grants is to support and encourage visual storytellers to create a long-term documentary photography project with local communities who are working to protect the environment and wildlife.\nRewards\nBest of Show winners receive a $1,500 cash prize, Gold medal winners receive $750. All prizes are in US Funds.\nBest of Show and Gold medal winners receive a 3×3×3-inch cube. All other medal and merit winners are offered a free an embossed certificate. Honorable Mentions receive a printable certificate.\nAll medal and merit winners will be featured in our printed Annual—digital edition and online; our Honorable Mentions will be featured online gallery and listed in the printed Annual. Winners will receive a free digital edition of the Annual and a 33% discount on purchasing a print edition .\nAll medalists receive a one-year subscription to 3×3 Magazine.\nmedalist exhibition and presentation\nAll Best of Show, medalists and distinctive merit winners will be exhibited in a pop-up gallery during the annual New York City Illustration Week in early November (Covid-restrictions permitting). Our cubes and certificates will be presented to those who attend.\ngary powell student award\nAll students who receive a medal or merit are automatically finalists for our special Gary Powell Student Award with a $1,000 cash prize.\npromotion\nA free digital edition will be sent to leading art directors and art buyers giving further exposure to all winners.\nAll awards will be promoted on our site and on all social media. A press release will be submitted to leading art and design publication worldwide for further exposure.\n \nEligibility\n\nOpen to all illustrators, art directors, graphic designers, editors, publishers in all countries for commissioned and non-commissioned work produced and/or published prior to the show deadline of March 31, 2023.\nOpen to all students in all countries for non-commissioned classroom illustration projects produced prior to the show deadline of March 31, 2023. As long as you were enrolled in an art school, college or university in 2022–2023 you are eligible to enter this show. Personal projects are accepted.\nThere is no specific theme for this year’s show. All mediums will be considered.\nStudents may also enter unpublished work in our Professional show show under the unpublished or gallery category.\nIf you have commissioned work then you must enter that work in the applicable category in our Professional Show.\n\nEntry Fee\nSingle entry, $35 USD\nSeries (2–5 images with a similar theme), $70 USD,\nplus $5 for each additional image up to 10 images\nanimation/motion & games/apps\nSingle entry, $65 USD\nSeries (2–5 images with a similar theme), $85 USD,\nplus $5 for each additional image up to 10 images\nstudent show fees\nSingle entry, $15 USD\nSeries (2–5 images with a similar theme), $35 USD,\nplus $5 for each additional image up to 10 images\nNote: A student’s portfolio or thesis is not regarded as a Series unless all images are part of a cohesive project.\npublication fees\nOur publication fee for Professional Show Winners is $85 per accepted entry (Single or Series).
