DESCRIPTION:Opportunity type: Open Call\nFor: Sound Artists \nDeadline: 06/09/26\nRewards: €6,000 + production support + travel + more\nLocation Eligibility: Worldwide\n\nAbout this opportunity\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCTM Festival, in collaboration with Deutschlandfunk Kultur and ORF Austrian Broadcasting Service, is seeking artists to create experimental sound works for the new In Listening project. The open call supports works grounded in experimental sound practices and audio art, exploring the boundaries between sound, noise, music, storytelling, poetry, documentation, and listening processes.\nSelected artists will develop works responding to the CTM 2027 theme “Process…ing”, with a focus on active listening as an individual or collective experience. Proposed works should be adaptable for two formats: a live performance at CTM 2027 Festival in Berlin and a radio broadcast for Deutschlandfunk Kultur and ORF.\nThe programme supports sound-led works where audio is the primary medium. Proposals involving complex video elements or extensive scenography are outside the scope of this call.\nRewards\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n€6,000 commission fee for each of the two selected works\nPremiere performance at CTM 2027 Festival in Berlin (22–31 January 2027)\nBroadcast as a 40–55 minute radio piece on Deutschlandfunk Kultur’s Klangkunst programme in Spring 2027\nPresentation through ORF platforms, including Ö1 Zeit-Ton, Ö1 Blaue Stunde (Kunstradio), and/or ORF musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst festival in Graz\nOnline streaming availability through Deutschlandfunk and ORF websites and apps for at least one year\nTravel expenses to Berlin and accommodation during the production/festival period covered by CTM\nTechnical and staging costs covered by CTM and potential ORF presentations (upon agreement)\nSupport, counselling, and production assistance from CTM Festival and partner organisations\n\nEligibility\n\n\n\nOpen to artists worldwide\nApplicants should work with experimental sound practices, audio art, or sound-focused experiences\nProposed works must use sound as the main medium\nWorks may include text, music, spoken word, or lyrics, but sound should remain central\nProjects should respond to the CTM 2027 theme “Process…ing”\nProposals should consider both live festival presentation and radio broadcast formats\nCollaborative projects are welcome, but should consider a modest travel budget\n\nEntry Fee\nFree\n\n\nHow to Apply \nApply using the link: In Listening 2027 – Call for Hybrid Radio/Live Works\n\n\nAll questions regarding this opportunity should be sent to in_listening@ctm-festival.de\n\n\n
