The prize recognises artists who demonstrate strong artistic merit, critical engagement with their chosen medium, and a distinctive contribution to contemporary art. Artists from around the world are invited to participate, with selected artists receiving financial support, professional recognition, and opportunities to connect with leading curators, gallerists, and artists through studio visits.\nThe prize considers artists working across all forms of contemporary art, including painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, video, performance, and other media. Selection is based on the strength of the artist’s practice, artwork, and artist statement.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRewards\nWinner (Honoree):\n\n$10,000 unrestricted grant to support artistic practice\nRemote studio visits with each juror\n\nShortlisted Artists (3 selected):\n\n$1,000 micro-grant each\n\n\nAdditional benefits:\n\nRecognition through Foundwork’s platform and communications\nReview by a jury of acclaimed curators, gallerists, artists, and art professionals\nOpportunity for the winning artist to participate in a Dialogues interview\n\nEligibility\n\n\n\nOpen to individual artists aged 18 and above\nArtists must work in any media\nArtists must not be Foundwork employees, contractors, or their relatives\nArtists must be able to participate according to applicable laws and regulations\nArtists must maintain a published profile on the Foundwork website throughout the 2026 selection period\nThe profile must include at least six published artworks and an artist statement\nArtists who have previously been an Honoree are not eligible to be selected again\nArtists who have previously been shortlisted are not eligible to be selected again for three years after their last selection\nArtist duos and collectives are not eligible; the prize recognises individual artists\n\nArtists residing worldwide are eligible except those in the following locations: Argentina; Arizona (US State); Bosnia and Herzegovina; Bulgaria; Cuba; Iran; Kosovo; Latvia; Macedonia; North Korea; Quebec (Canadian Province); Russia; Saudi Arabia; Serbia; Sudan; Syria; and United Arab Emirates (UAE).\nEntry Fee\nFree\nHowever, artists must maintain an active Foundwork membership ($6/month after a 30-day free trial) during the selection period.\n\n\nHow to Apply \nApply using the link: Foundwork Artist Prize 2026\nAll questions regarding this opportunity should be sent to support@foundwork.art\n
